I agree yet other forms of exersize seem to stick longer with many people. The problem is that it seems that most people that I have seen over the years are not able to consistently weight train as a lifestyle rather than a on and off pattern. On the other hand, many that walk, run, cycle, tennis and others seem to be able to sustain it longer. One reason is that for some of these forms of exersize, they can be done from their front door but often weight training requires a gym membership of some sort and a drive to get there and maybe child care, etc. Additionally, events such at 5k runs, group cycling, tennis matches, etc add a element of competition and goal setting that does not occur with the average weight lifter. Just something to consider as everyone tries to change their lifestyle rather than just succeed at a short term weight loss goal.
Now with that being said, over the last year, I have always found that when I was lifting weights 3 times a week for about 20-30 minutes with minimal breaks between sets, I definately lost more weight more quickly.
One more thing, adding the swimming has changed my body without any weight lifting. It is a excellent upper body workout. Of couse this has to be done with some intensity rather than just banging out yard after yard at a slow pace. Intervals, those painful intervals..... build the cardio system and the muscle.

I see you and Mark are going to debate along the way. The teacher in me just has to point out that the correct spelling of "exersize" is EXERCISE! Sorry, just couldn't let it go.
